Sam Lay has produced 30+ songs of mine over 3 years. When Sam produces a song, his musical sensibility guides you to a clear energetic result. He acts as a coach not a director. Technology doesn’t get in our way.  Orchestration won’t get muddied with over-thinking.  Energetic interchange between players is given room to develop live.  Sam knows his gear. He can set up, and mic you quickly and well.  He has a great ear and can quickly create accompanying parts on multi-instruments.  He would take my mix, tweak the EQ, compression, and panning for 30 minutes and it was like pillows where removed from the speakers.  He won’t try to make your music his, but only make your music shine.  He is responsible and timely.  And he’s good fun!  So the environment he helps create is always positive.
